Yingfan Zhang is the co-founder and chief architect of Atelier Alter Architects. She graduated from the Urban Design program at the Graduate School of Architectural Design at Harvard University and the Cooper Union Architecture program in New York on a full scholarship. Yingfan studied under architectural luminaries such as Raimund Abraham, John Hejduk, and Peter Eisenman. She has worked at RMJM North America and Atelier Raimund Abraham Architects, where she specialized in exploring the unique cultural context of sites through artistic techniques and conveying care for humanity and society through abstract poetry.
One of her representative works, the Jing History Museum, showcases her ability to respond to nature with architectural language born from the site's context, reflecting her critical thinking on architecture, innovative pursuit of architectural language, and capacity to shape the cultural field of architecture. Yingfan has also contributed to the academic field, teaching at Tsinghua University and Tianjin University for many years.
