Zhao Xuening is an accomplished Director of Photography and Cinematographer, and a graduate of the Beijing Film Academy, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Photography.
His cinematographic work has been widely recognized at major international film festivals. The feature film Love My Way, shot by Zhao, received multiple awards, nominations, and official selections, including the Asian New Talents section at the 25th Shanghai International Film Festival, the 5th Pingyao International Film Festival, and the 25th Jeonju International Film Festival.
Another notable work, Leaving with Love, was shortlisted for the Main Competition of the 2017 Asia-Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) and selected for the 20th Shanghai International Film Festival. The film Georgia was nominated for the Main Competition at the 4th Hainan Island International Film Festival, screened at the MICE Film Festival, and served as the Opening Film of the 7th China–EU Film Festival. His work Ādarśa was also selected for the Special Screening section at the 7th China–EU Film Festival.
In television, Night Cat Express: Night Dream was nominated for the Official Competition (Short Drama) at Canneseries 2022, further highlighting Zhao’s versatility across formats.
In addition to his narrative work, Zhao has extensive commercial experience, having served as cinematographer on hundreds of television commercials for leading international brands. His visual style is recognized for its strong narrative sensibility, refined composition, and technical precision across both cinematic and commercial projects.
